Food, Glorious Foooood!
It doesn’t get much better than this. Yes I am impartial. Milli is my friend, I bloody love afternoon tea and anything to do with the Great British Bake Off is going to be right up my street. But impartiality aside, I paid full price for David and I to go to Milli’s latest Great British Bake Off Afternoon tea as I knew it would be flipping fantastic. David has been dubious about supper clubs for a long time and I’d not managed to convince him to go to one with me. Having already been to one of Milli’s afternoon Tea’s and brining home some goodies it was not difficult to convince David on this one.
Late October we went along to the latest instalment of the Milk & Sugar Afternoon Tea Supperclub. Run by Victoria Glass and Milli Taylor, both super duper supper club hosts, bloggers and authors.
This was the first of Milli and Victoria’s afternoon teas held in a beautiful home in Putney and this time with a great British Bake Off inspired menu. It started at 4pm, which suited us just fine. It was really easy to sign up and book as Milk and Sugar use the Edible Expereinces site to facilitate easy booking. Afterwards I found out that they were having to turn people away that’s how popular it was, I’m glad I got in early.
There were treats aplenty, but first I want to draw your attention to this genius creation… THAT my friends is a savoury Jammie Dodger. Yes, you ‘eard. Savoury! Please excuse my hair, I had been running and yoga-ing with Lissy.
Now for the low down…
Milk and Sugar Afternoon Tea
In their own words “While enjoying stunning views of the river, you can sip on a glass of fizz and as much tea as you can quaff, all while tucking into such delights as Bakewell tart and Tunnocks-style teacakes Alongside the sweet stuff, you will be able to enjoy a choice of savoury pastries and finger sandwiches. On arrival, scones served with clotted cream and jam will be freshly baked to order.” See what we had on the day below.
Ham and mustard
Smoked salmon and cream cheese
Egg and cress
Cheese and pickle dodgers
Leek and Caerphilly tarts
Mini Battenbergs, Homemade Tunnocks teacakes, Chocolate Digestives and Bakewell tarts
Orange and Cointreau Mini Cakes
Freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam
Not that I really managed more than half a scone as I was absolutely STUFFED. In a perfectly happy way though.
David and I had a perfect afternoon catching up over tea and cake and meeting new people. Milli, Victoria and Colly assisting were the perfect hosts and I wouldn’t have changed a thing about the afternoon.
