Say Goodbye to the Gym – Volume Two

After my post ‘Say Goodbye to the Gym‘  I endeavoured to try a bunch of new ways to keep fit. Here’s what I’ve tried since then.

Grab a friend and make up your own workout!

I’ve been getting sweaty In the Park with Beki with a little 20 minute routine. We’re trying to do it once a week. I really enjoy this, it’s a quick blast, we get a chance to chat in between the sets huffing and puffing and we motivate each other to get down to the park. This glorious weather helps too.

I also indulged in A proper rest day walk with Charlie. Instead of hitting a hot yoga class on a Friday morning, I saved my pennies and met up with Charlie for a walk down the Thames in the morning sunshine, we got out of the way of all the runners and cyclists and pottered along munching on muffins and chatting about training. It was really therapeutic and although it was a rest day I think we walked about 2 miles!

I was invited to a juice making night by Curry’s to test out their juicers, but the great thing about this event was it included a Body Conditioning class at Urban Kings Gym. I loved this work out, it was effectively a full body circuit, a bit like what I’d been doing with Beki but with a lot tougher work and a bigger team! It was a great to meet up with lots of bloggers, some I knew in real life and some I didn’t. They gave a very balanced talk about juicing before letting us loose on some Phillips Juicers, you can see how pleased I was with my juice above. Derry from Urban Kings really made sure we worked up a sweat after all that juicing. I would definitely head to a body conditioning class again,  Urban Kings is too far from me but I’ll be looking for one closer. Beki and Liina mentioned that the exercises we did were quite Cross Fit like, so perhaps that’s another one to try! I met  Sophie and Liina for real for the first time and they’ve written some great things about the evening.


What shall I try next? I’ve got a new yoga class lined up and some mat Pilates!

    Sounds like fun… definitely more fun than the gym! 😉 I love the 20-minute lunchtime circuits, that’s a great idea. The walk by the Thames sounds lovely too!
