Yoga One to One

One to one yoga sessions are for seasoned yogis, right? WRONG!  I am a mere yogini but I was lucky enough to win a 1-2-1 session with the wonderful Heather Bonnie Lee which opened my eyes to the benefits of the extra attention.

Who is it for?

How much?

Heather charges £65 for an hour,  which when you are paying £16 for a class of 20+ and little/no correction from the instructor is  a bargain!

What do you do?

After my 21 days of yoga I felt confident enough to attempt some moves in class that I had avoided. Due to the nature of the hot yoga classes I attend I had not been taught how to get in /out of those poses. I asked Heather if we could go through Wheel and Flip Dog just to get my transitions right. As a dedicated Pigeon-er (for me hips) I also wanted to know how I could make the pose more intense and ensure I had correct alignment. Heather cunningly worked these and more into my hour session and gave me a really good work out. As I attend one of her weekly group classes there were a few things she had noted and helped me to work on e.g. keeping my elbows tucked in through Upward Dog.

Where do you do it?

We met at my home, I moved the sofa out of the way, lit some candles and played Ludovic Einaudi (bought after heard it at the yoga retreat and Katy recommended). I completely forgot we were in my house, even though David was busy doing DIY in the hallway and felt completely in the practise. This really surprised me, I was worried about getting distracted but being led through a practise 1-2-1 there isn’t much time to think about any thing else!

Who is Heather?

I met Heather through the free classes she teaches at Sweaty Betty Wimbledon, out of all of the classes I’ve attended hers are my favourite, her attitude and approach fits me perfectly.

If you like the sound of Heather she teaches these classes:

  • Mondays: Chelsea Harbour Club: 19:30-21:00
  • Tuesdays: Slice Studios ( Total Body Workout ): 8:45-9:30 and 18:30-19:15
  • Wednesdays: Sweaty Betty Wimbledon Village: 18:15-19:15

You can find out lots more about Heather on her website.

Have you ever considered a 1-2-1 session? Did anything put you off?

    Sounds great!
I had a 1-to-1 class with Secret Yoga Club, only because no-one else arrived to the class and the instructor was happy to teach me 1-on-1. It was amazing- I got so much out of it- having my postures corrected and being helped into new poses. Definitely something I would think about doing again.
